After 11 Tools Reflection

By working through the 11 Tools has helped me learn how to operate in the digital world and communicate with other teachers by sharing ideas and resources. By using Tool 4 Google Tools, I will be able to create documents, spread sheets and presentations. Through Google Reader I will also be able to connect online resources that will update me with information that I or my students might need. On line learning can also be done by using Video Resources Tool 8. Educational videos are very useful to use as sources when needed.
My favorite tool was #7 Digital Storytelling. I will definitely use my digital camera more to create and make books for my students to enjoy. My students will also be giviing the opportunity to write their own books.
After learning much more about the digital world has definitely changed my way of thinking about the importance of being part of the learning process and providing a rich technology environment.

Tool 11: Digital Citizenship

Many students are presently using tecnology on a daily basis and feel comfortable, while others do not use it wisely.
I would help students use it by using the following: digital citizenship, digital literacy and internet safety.
Through using and working with new tools I will take full responsiblity in teaching digital citizenship. Being the teacher I commit myself to be part of the learning process when it comes to digital media. I will educate my students about digital literacy to help prepare them for the world outside the classroom.
Most important in using technology is internet safety for teachers, students and parents as well.
I would teach my students by monitoring, watching where students go on the internet and especially acquaint myself with new tools that will help students visit protected sites. I would also involve my parents to help them understand and prepare them on internet dangers.

Tool 10: Exploring Mobile Technology And Apps

By using the the i-phone, i-pod or i-pad students will be able to interact with what they are learning.
The educational apps that I revewed were: ABC Phonics Animals Free Lite - By using this
software, the students will enjoy learning.
The ABC Flash Cards will allow students to have a visual picture of objects, while being able to see how it is written. They will also be able to interact with the topics that they like and gain vocabulary along with the spelling.
I can't wait to use them in my classroom.

Tool 9: Sharing Information Through Jing & Skype

By using Jing I will be able to capture what is on the screen and use the information to help me explain it to the students. I can also share the screen captured with the person I am on the internet with.

Skype is definitely a way to have coommunication with love ones who live very far away. It is great for many business people or companies to have a video conference.

Tool 8: Video Resources

The videos are extremely very useful resources for my pre-kindergarten students. I incorporate themes in my literacy, math, science and social studies activties. Two of the themes I use are Naturalist and Transportation, so therefore this is why I chose these two videos. The video on flowers will be used during the naturalist unit. The one on transportation I really liked, because it was about the history of tranportation and that is an awesome video for students to see and find out that it was not as easy to get from one place to another.

Tool 7: Digital Storytelling

So far this was my favorite tool, not only because I made a video but also learned how to upload my pictures on the computer. It was great to take pictures of my love to beautify my house and also to write about it. Using digital storytelling will help me and my students to write, create and enjoy the students' creations.

Tool 6: Wikis

What a fabulous way to have Wiki which shows the same document for everyone to work from.
We can all get on the same document and edit instead of emailing everyone.

By using Wiki in my classroom it will help me show my students that we can all use the computer to create a list of ideas or topics that they are interested in learning about. In my Pre-K class it will also allow us to work together to create one document without having to be in the same location at the same time.

Tool 5:Tagging and Social Bookmarking

These are the two websites that I found and bookmarked in my Digo.
1. http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials.htm
2. http://teachertube.com

In order to find these hot links, I used the educaitonal and photography tags.

This bookmarking tool will be useful and will allow me to keep track of the websites that I consider have the best information on Pre-K topics and ways to use photography to make student books.

Tool 1

It was a challenge for me, but found it exciting and knowledgeable. I am curious to work on the remaining tools and start incorporating the tools in my teaching and classroom environment. I am also excited about learning from others.
